This depends on your definition of good and free. Most free games are very limited or they have a shop to buy stuff that improves the game.

It's not free(you have to buy the game) but I hear Guild Wars is a good choice. It's free to play once you buy it.

There's Runescape. Fun and free, unless you want to see all of the other options members have. But membership is only $8 a month.

If you're going to pay money monthly you might as well get FFXI or WoW. No offense to Runescape but 8 bucks seems like a lot for that game.

Btw I read that game Planeshift has enforced roleplaying. I hate anything thats forced.

Anybody ever play that game Adventure Quest? I thought it was a MMORPG but it was just a one player deal. I didn't really enjoy the free stuff all that much and didn't make me want to buy into it.

AQ is fun but it lacks the mmo part also planeshift is like runescape with way way better graphics and all free

that game has the best most awesome most high res graphics....

well I lied because there are no graphics

but it is still my all time favorite mmorpg

it is a text based game (uses nothing but text)

it has a huge following of 100+ people on at anypoint in the day so it is never empty

it has player killing and role play and good and evil classes so you can participate in the race wars

and best of all

it is all centered around J.R.R Tolkens Lord of the rings.

you can play Human, Hobbit, Elf, Trolls, Orcs, Half-Elf, and they added some new classes just for experinced players as well.

I tried to get into Runescape too and it just never caught on with me. Maybe my attention span is too low or something.

Someone suggested PerfectWorld and so far I like it. It's free and has an item shop. But in game money can be used to purchase coins for the shop. So it sounds like nothings out of reach if you really want it.
One bad thing is the size of the download. I forget how big it is but it took awhile to d/l.

If anyone wants to join me I'll be playing this game for now, until it bores me or something distracts me.

Yeah Doctor, Runescape is like beer [or something]... It actually is pretty bad, but you gotta stick with it. After a while, you'll develop a resistance (your brain rots), then all is good and you can play it to your heart's content. Kidding aside, the attention span is probably why. The game gets repetive. :P
