Hello! Thanks for checking in. I'm safe and sound.
Asheville was it pretty hard.
Water is still out for nearly all of the region. Asheville is expected to have no running water for 4 months. The schools can't open until they have water so they are drilling wells on all school properties and expect to open in 2 more weeks.
The entire local economy is based on tourism, restaurants, and breweries, and they are all shut down because of the water. Nearly all businesses are still shut down.
Electricity, internet, cell phones, and mail were down for about a week, but are mostly working now, although slow and spotty. Garbage pick up just started again. Amazon's warehouse was flooded so still no Amazon deliveries.
No ATMs, banks or internet for the first week so everything was cash only. Most gas stations were closed. The few that remained open were cash only, and would only sell you 3 gallons after an hour or two wait.
FEMA and National Guard etc are here. But for the most part all food and water in the city are being drove in by individuals and then given away on the street.
There is a curfew 7:30 to 7:30. Not strictly enforced but businesses have to close. It's changing to 11pm to 6am.
Lots of stuff needs to be demolished and rebuilt.
