I've seen 'the burbs' so many times. Him and brother Theodore always crack me up.

Soupy Sales passed away
TV funny man Soupy Sales dies at 83 - CNN.com
Im to young to have seen his show, but he was a pioneer of early comedy shows and radio. He was up there with Howdy Doody and Red Skelton and was an inovator of the pie in the face gag ( who dosent appreciate a good pie in the kisser).
I remember seeing this video on Youtube a while ago when I was writting a paper on old comedians and came across it....enjoy!!
RIP sir.

Re: dead celebrities
I found about 15 different videos of him showing pies in peoples faces and just general silly stuff. Most of it was pretty funny. He also had WORDS of WISDOM on his show and a skit called the naked lady.
Pretty funny show for its time.

Re: dead celebrities
RIP to Umaga WWE superstar
Passed away in his home
WWE wrestling star Umaga has died in a Texas hospital.
The 36-year-old American Samoa-born wrestler, whose real name is Eddie Fatu, was found at home by his wife, unable to breath and bleeding from the nose, various websites have reported.
On its website, the WWE expressed its "deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu's family, friends and fans on his tragic passing".
Fatu was a member of the Anoa'i wrestling family. He was the cousin of wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, and also believed to be related to boxer David Tua.
Fatu left WWE in June of this year.
He had just finished working the Hulkamania tour in Australia in the last week.
He had left the company after a second violation of WWE's Wellness Policy and when refusing to enter drug rehabilitation.

Re: dead celebrities
Wow! That's too bad. Another wrestler dies tragically too young. I think I saw him in passing. Was he related to any of the guys from The old Headshrinkers tag team? He wasn't one of them was he?
Either way, very sad. So many talented guys like Owen Hart, Chris Benoit, Hawk, Eddie Guerrero, Yokozuna, Boss Man, Andre, the list goes on and on.

Re: dead celebrities
I think the he was related to the headshrinkers and to yokozuna. I know he was The Rocks cousin and Im pretty sure someone said he might be related to Tua (the boxer). A lot of american somoans are related by either marriage or by distant blood relatives.
Umaga was one of the more entertaining wrestlers in recent years. He will be missed

That's really awful. Has an official determination been made yet on the cause? Do they think it was drug related?

There hasent been anything formaly announced yet but he was released from WWE this year due not complying with its wellness policy and failing his drug test. He also refused to go to rehab. I wouldnt be supprised if it was an overdose of some kind. Rumors are he was addicted to pain pills. He just came back from Australia working with Hulk Hogans promotion there, im sure that was probably the beginning of the end for him.
Its a shame either way though

Yes it is. Too bad. It's getting to where the average max life expectancy for a wrestler is 40.

Umaga is related to the Wild Samoans. He was fun to watch even though he had a horrible manager.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Test on here

Re: dead celebrities
test died before this topic was made. Interesting story: i was watching a trailer for a documentary about wrestlers dying young, and test was interviewed in it. He said that he was gonna do a six month stint over in the u.k. and said he was then gonna retire, he never made it past the six months.

In addition he was also brother to Rikishi, and was also Jamal in the tag team with Rosey who was his cousin. Some people may remember his other brother who was Tonga Kid

Re: dead celebrities
wrestlers die young because they put their bodies through physical mayhem, in order to answer the bell the next night they need to take pain killers. this cycle compounds its self over time and it gets to the point where their bodies just cant take it anymore. over the years, as the physical pain goes up, the intake of pain killers goes up aswell. on top of all that, the lifestyle is brutal, so alot of drugs and alchohol ae comsumed aswell. brock lesner couldnt handle the lifestyle, he said he doesnt even remember the 2 years he spent in the wwe.

REALLY?
What I hear about the WWE and UFC style fighters (I don't watch it) is that they are tuned athletic machines whose training routines are incredible.
Are they smashing it up and patching it up later, and the whole 'hero' image is only for TV?
So what does that do to the young and impressionable who want to be just like their 'heroes'?
When it comes to TV:
If running your body into the ground and ending up with arthritic joints makes for great entertainment, I suppose they will continue to do it.
The real question is whether the money is worth it to the people who wreck their bodies to make that entertainment.

Re: dead celebrities
Pro Wrestling isn't real but it is hard work and they put their bodies at risk each match. UFC is real and people get hurt much worse and it's the norm, not the exception. If someone doesn't get hurt in a match it's unusual.
It's not really fair to compare the two since there is such a difference in risk and dedication. Also ProWrestling is known to be full of steroid freaks, the UFC is not. Steroids can really damage a person over time.
