Blanch was the character. Rue McClanahan was the actress. It's sad, but she had a pretty long life, though. No GG reunion. :(

Yeah I liked that show too, and was so glad to see 'Maude' {Beatrice Arthur} in it since she was one of my favorites as a kid - right up there with Carol Burnett.
Beatrice died last year around this time.

We're gettin' old, WB.

I remember how my parents reacted to hearing on the radio that Elvis had died, and I never really understood then, but now I do:
It's a time marker, an indication of the passing of an age, and with it the loss of familiar icons.

Dang, now I'm all sad like.
:weep:
But I suppose we should be glad to still be here to talk about it.

Good points Joe. I always liked Maude, and really like the Carol Burnett Show.

It's funny you mention that we're old. I had the exact same feeling recently. I was trying to explain the Carol Burnett show to a girl I know, and she had no idea what I was talking about. I was like, "yeah and Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman, and Tim Conway were great!". She kept saying "who?" after each name, and I gave it up. :sidefrown:

By the look of this Family Guy, anything would be an ordeal.
Makes me glad I don't watch much TV.

I missed the bit about Dennis Hopper passing on; I liked him too, DB, and oddly enough one of my favorite perfomances of his was as King Koopa {what a lousy leader} from the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Yeah I know, it's supposed to be horrible, but I like it.

Also I got a kick out of his character in Flashback, and as 'Feck' in River's Edge was pretty interesting too.
