I've gotten Hey You! Pikachu and Mission: Impossible by borrowing them from a friend and they moved. Not my fault, they just randomly moved. ._.
I Golden Sun for GBA for free because I got it at Gamestop with 2 other games and they forgot to charge me for it.
I got Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut by ordering the Resident Evil remake on GCN online with a gift card and it still said I had money so I ordered another game and it worked. Then I experimented and tried to order a PS3 but it didn't work. D:
I got Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for PC (it's worth $50) NEW, completely unopened, from my girlfriend. Her dad found it in a dumpster (what retard throws away a new amazing game?) and she just gave it to me.

At one point, I traded my old N64 for a Genesis and about 17 games, including Aladdin, Adventures of Batman and Robin, Desert Strike, and Castle of Illusion (games he grew out of). I was amazed at some of the games I never OWNED with my first Genesis, as as revisiting the games I had played in my childhood, like Aladdin.

call of duty 3 and just cause for the 360 were freebies from gamefly. they got lost in the mail around christmas time, i reported them missing, they sent replacements, but the originals arrived about 2 weeks later...of course, the next time a game was lost, they saw fit to give me the boot.

The Subway ones were using free codes that were posted online(subway released them as the contest went on so you didn't have to keep buying food)

The contests were all different. For GT5 and High Velocity bowling, you entered 3 codes a day and clicked icons on a board. If you uncovered 2 that matched you won.

Uncharted 3 was the same with the 3 codes a day, but you picked an area on a map and then 1 of 3 icons in that area.

I'm pretty sure the Subway contests, it didn't matter what you picked. All prizes were given away at a certain time. Whoever entered the code first after that time would win.

I may have slightly bent the rules and used multiple email accounts to increase my chances, but once I won what I wanted I stopped playing(unlike the people who would win multiple prizes and keep playing)

The Coke one I found 1 free code online, entered it and won(I assume it was time based as well). I think it was like a slot machine kind of thing.

I've mentioned before that one of my students who was satisfied with my class gifted me Portal 2.

Then, I got Star Wars Battlefront 2, The Force Unleashed 2, and Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast in the mail. I have no clue why I received them, it was a box with my name on it and to this day I'm still clueless about it.

I got Portal free from Steam a couple of years ago when they were giving it away. As well as Bejeweled. Angry Birds, Monopoly, Tetris and about 4 more free in my cel because of some promotion.

But if you are talking about gifts from people as well, basically 90% of my games were gifts. Although unexpected gifts were the Sims and Myst. My aunt just bought them for me, I had no idea they existed and couldn't play them because my computer couldn't run them. When I finally got a computer that could run them I became hooked.

Who likes the style Galaga / Galaxian should take a look at them. Booth seem to be the same game, but the first is black and white with 3D effects, while the second is in color.

I got a free copy of "The Ball" for PC from a Gamestop clerk I know.

Also I donated my wii to a gameroom and it came back with a copy of Brawl in it. They still can't find the owner. However it was that copy of brawl that I used to do a wii softmod so I could play Xenoblade.
