Re: Twingalaxies down
I'm really glad I haven't read a single post in this thread up until today.

I've already clearly stated why I'm against it in this very thread.
If you're actually insinuating that I care anything about high scores on this site or any other scoreboard then you sir have no clue. If it was my call to make the whole site would be whitewashed from all this "world record" nonsense altogether.

Yes I am well aware that you dont care.
You state this:

This I dont understand. You are against having all videos public, yet you want staff to come under more scrutiny for their scores. Wouldnt the best scrutiny come from the general public (OK yes only donors at this stage). as they are the ones who know most about the game/s in question. MARP has done this for many years and it is very successful. Anyone can watch any gameplay whenever they like. If they notice something wrong, then staff is informed. Peer-review is the best system IMO.

This would just be silly. Any staff could work together to contaminate the scoreboard with a plethora of fake scores. How could we go back and rectify this if the video is deleted.
I feel HONOURED if anyone wants to watch my gameplay for tips and strategies. If they want to use it against me, so be it. Ill use it to fuel my motivation to go back and beat them.

You should make a small page explaining how you decide that a score is a world record. List your sources, what you do in the event that there are no sources, and define what you consider a legitimate score.

Using Twin Galaxy scores would be better, but even their list falls short because many players play for score without submitting, so they are many scores that are not official.
For instance, TG does not have a listing for 1941, yet I know player Smraedis has a higher score than me, see here. I don't want to be attached to any records when they're clearly not true.
For example here and here are score record lists that are way higher than the cited site. Whole list of shooting game score boards here.
TLDR: Not a good idea to claim records based on wrong or outdated info.

None of these things happened.

It would be better to keep it and have people just chill out about it.

champow needs to update it's database with MARP scores, and other site's scores before it is "recognised" properly...

Re: Twingalaxies down
Yes. It isn't meant to be used right now. It was only released in the state it is because TG was down. It is only left up right now because TG removed all screenshots and INP files.
I started working on CP again today for the first time in months. It is not very useful until it has multiple sources imported.

Re: Twingalaxies down
Big news!
I just set a new all time high score and now new world record for Gulf Storm MAME.
It beats all other known high scores for this game.
I'll be out of school and I plan on attempting to ROLL OVER the score counter! It takes 10 million to do that and I'm thinking that I may be able to do that.
So if I ROLL OVER the score will then someone sponsor me.
Thanks and looking to hear some feedback.

Re: Twingalaxies down
Apparently someone has already done so. Let me find the evidence.
---------- Post added at 01:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 PM ----------
Cant find anything about anyone doing it using emulation but according to this 6 players have done it in the arcade
Gamest/Arcadia Records
(Its GEMANT's list, its reliable)

I would not be surprised if that was true
In saying that, some scores I find hard to believe.
