I have had more years to work on it than you, so that makes sense actually.

No it really is the 32X that I hate. I always saw it as a wasted system that Sega just released as a filler until they came out with the Saturn. I will admit that MK II, Star Wars Arcade, and Kolibir are good, but there were not very many other good games in my opinion. CD-I didn't have a lot on it, but there are a few really good titles.

When I say these are the ones I have, I should say that GG and I co-own most of the stuff. We did get most of the systems/games over the years as they came out. When other gamers would only want the newest thing that came out, and would trade in their old systems, we would hold onto our systems and keep playing them. That's the main reason we have so many systems now. I am a big fan of nice graphics and sound, but a good game is a good game no matter how old.

I knew what you meant on the NGCD. If you for it, I think you will find a bunch of great games to play.

You have a good amount of consoles there yourself Cam.

IMHO, Neo Geo CD has way more than 5-10 good games. I think there are at least 30-40 must have titles. As I am kind of a Neo Geo collector, I have just about everything made for NGCD, but there are definitely some you could skip and not miss (like Savage Reign for example.)

As far as number of games on other systems it really depends on the system. I haven't taken inventory in a looooonng time, but here's what I would estimate off hand:

    Amiga:50/ VIC20:20/ NES:600/ Famicom:10/ SNES:50/ SFam:10/ Gameboy:30/ Gb Color:10/ Gb Adv:20/ N64:30/ Gcube:15/ DS:2 (I only bought it for some language programs)/ Wii:25/ Master Sys:20/ Genesis:100/ Sega CD:70 (nearly 100%)/ 32X:10 (I hate 32X)/ Saturn:50/ Dcast:30/ PS1:25/ PS2:70/ PS3:1 (Came with the system. I bought for the Blu Ray player.)/ PSP:40/ 3DO:10 (soon to change with the info you gave me. )/ Xbox:200/ 360:90/ TurboDuo:30/ CD-I:15/ Neo Geo CD:70/ PC:100

    I own these:

    - COMMODORE: VIC20, Amiga

    - NINTENDO: NES, SNES, Famicom, Super Famicom, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advanced, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, DS, Wii

    - SEGA: Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast

    - SONY: PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP

    - MAGNAVOX?: 3DO

    - MICROSOFT: Xbox, Xbox 360

    - NEC: Turbo Grafx 16, Turbografx CD, Turbo Duo

    - PHILLIPS: CD-I

    - SNK: Neo Geo CD, Neo Geo CDZ (I typically only count this as one since it's technically the same system.)

    - PC

It's true there were 3 Neo CD models:

    Front load:

    Top Load:

    CDZ:

    About 70-80 games on NGCD.

Yeah, at least that's how it was marketed. It had an 8-bit chip and a 16-bit chip that worked together. I believe there was some 32-bit hardware later on as well, but it made for great looking games.

If you want to try fighters, I think the best are from these series: Samurai Shodown, Last Blade, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, & World Heroes series. For Double Dragon type, try Sengoku and Magician Lord. There are not very many racing games, but there are a couple. There are also a bunch of Contra type games which are fun.

I forgot to tell you to check to see if the guy has any modded NGCD that can play games from other countries. With Neo Geo there were exclusive games in Japan. If you have a modded system, you can play games from anywhere.

Load times: Neo Geo CD is probably on par with the Sega CD. It's not fast, but I think some people exaggerate the load times. I have a NGCD and a NGCDZ (which is faster), but I don't think the Neo Geo CD is too bad, but I'm old school. I grew up with PC that had lots of loading.

NG was 24-bit, but it looked like enhanced 16 bit graphics. It could display 4,096 colors on screen at once (just like my precious Amiga computer).

    Hey Cam,

Neo Geo CD has a bunch of cool games. Of course there are a bunch of fighting games, but also a bunch of games similar to E.D.F. It has a couple of racing games too, but it's main strength is action games.

I hope it will work out for you to get a new console soon. That would be cool.
