Re: seztheyank?

Best place to move = the house next door to mine >=)
Wouldnt your criminal record keep you from coming into ANY country (yes even Somalia hehe)?
NOT REALLY!! Its like finding an ice-cream bar in a volcano.
I don't know about apartments.
Everything.
I don't know, I'm not a drinker >=)
With a name like Sarah Clark, I doubt it >=)
I don't know any Brits.

(you do realize it is sarcasm for some of them)

Also, why did you put seztheyank?

i dunno where though, so i was wondering if any of you could give me any advice?Sure just ask.

wheres the best place to move? For you I'd suggest a big city. Small towns in the US tend to be full of ignorant morons that you might end up getting trouble because of(fighting, ect).

would my crinimal record effect me coming into the country? Possibly, what were you charged with again? PM me if you don't wanna say publically.

is it easy to get a job? Sure, if you have some kind of education. If not McDonalds will hire you.

how much is rent for a apartment? (nothing special, just liveable) This varies depending on where you are. In Massachusetts you're looking at $700-1,000 a month for a cheap place.

what shouldnt i do in america that may offend you americans? Don't insult the US unless you know the people somewhat. Other than that I can't see anything different than people you'd meet in your country.

what are the bars like? Typical I'd think. People like to go and drink with the hopes of meeting someone. Where I live most people my age go nightly unless they are married/involved.

will i make friends? You're female and british, yeah you'll be fine. The only thing that might hurt your chances is the ICP thing. From my experience most people either love them or hate them. It's not a huge deal but I wouldn't bring that up when you meet people.

are there many brits over there? Well considering most Americans have british ancestors I'd have to say yes. We may sound different but we're very similar to you blokes and birds. If you mean true brits then maybe not so much. I know a couple but not a lot.

i have many more questions
i feel a bit scared thinking about it. Like I said ask away and I'll be glad to answer

@Somedude, if you didn't know Yanks is the term Brits use for people from the US. We're yankees.

You don't have to say it I will. He means there's more religious people there.

Edit- don't feel like you can't speak your mind on RU. Just be prepared to explain yourself to the crowd. Saying things like "I could say why but I best not" is just asking for it.

actually no i guess i have to say it to make dudebro happy
people in the east tend to be more bitter and all about themselves (before you question me I've lived in both areas and know what I'm talking about)
i met a few nice people in pennsylvania (Arnold Palmer being one of them) so there is hope and I'm not saying in any way that if you live there your automatically that way

Re: seztheyank?

Yup you're totally wrong. That is a stereotype and it's not true. There are plenty of miserable, selfish people everywhere. The people in the south/midwest just pretend they don't see it. Thanks for implying that most of the people I know and care about are selfish and bitter though.

I wasn't gonna say it before but why not now? Sez most people don't like the southern US because it's known to be crazy religious and/or racist. Stereotypes are hurtful right Gamefreak?

Btw I wasn't kidding when I said you can speak your mind. You don't have to please me in anyway. Just don't post things that might cause controversy and then basically say "sorry but I'm not gonna talk about it" It sounds like "I'm right your wrong".

I don't even live in the South really, and I see confederate flags on cars daily. Uggghhh.

Sez, I recommend the West Coast. The West Coast is chill. If I could move anywhere in the US I would probably move to Seattle or somewhere in Oregon or something.

Re: seztheyank?

Because it is a stereotype. Did you meet and get to know everyone or even half of the people who live in the east? Yeah I didn't think so. Lumping everyone into a group with just your experiences is wrong and inaccurate.

I never lived in the south fyi, don't ever want too. Too many bigots and religious fanatics for my tastes.

Re: seztheyank?

@ DB, don't put all people in the South in the same category either. I'm in Florida and not everyone here is a shot gun toting, rebel flag flying, bigot or big game hunter. Okay, to be honest I'm not from Florida originally and have lived pretty much everywhere, but still I know a lot of native Floridians who are not so backwards as some may think.

@ Sez, I have lived in many different states in the U.S. and there are many cool places to see and experience here. I love your country too, but the U.S. is a great place as well.

Some of my personal favorite cities in the U.S. include:

- San Diego & Los Angelas, California
- Austin, Texas (it does not at all fall under the typical Texas sterotype and is actually very progressive).
- New York, New York (that's an easy one though)
- Seattle, Washington
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Tampa/Orlando, Florida

As far as cost goes, it really depends on where you go, but you can find a decent place to live for not too expensive. Jobs are decent too. With the economic situation happening currently, jobs are a bit tougher to find, but overall the U.S. is still much better off economically than many places.

Also, another thing to consider, there are also some cool places in Canada to consider. Vancouver especially has a lot going on.

As far as other Brits, well the U.S. is such a melting pot of different cultures (at least in many areas), so you will find people from everywhere. I myself have a few friends and know a few people from the U.K., so yep you will possibly run into some of your peeps if you decide to come to the U.S.

I knew we were awesome!

I've lived my entire life in the Seattle area, and it really is a great place. I can't really speak for anywhere outside the Pacific Northwest, but everywhere else sounds like a bit of a downgrade. Apparently we get the same weather as the UK, though.
