Re: Drinking Stories
I have a lot of these stories, so here's one I find myself laughing at that involves magic mushrooms.
There was a place close to me where you could go and buy weed, tea, coffee, and art.
Occasionally there were mushrooms available in a special house tea that was almost like a taro bubble tea or maybe even a bit like hot chocolate, but with the mushrooms steeping in it as well.
OH wow did my friend {who came with me on the trip} and I ever get high - it was simply divine, and we made the mistake of going to a restaurant during the peak of our high and ordered a nice big plate of nachos with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream dips on the side.
Really good food, but I noticed that after eating just a few chips I had forgotten how to chew, literally.
Now it isn't like I was falling on my ass and talking like someone totally tanked, the way people do with that salvia shit, but I had forgotten how to chew and swallow food right after I shovelled a corn chip heaped with toppings into my maw.
So I'm sitting there, flipping this chip around and around in my mouth whole, and trying to simultaneously remember how to chew and also to 'maintain' as they say.
Round and round the chip went.
My friend who was with me is an intensely intellectual person, and just kept talking the whole time, seemingly unaware of my plight.
Finally after seemed like an eternity the chip had broken down from the constant flipping and I was able to swallow it down.
By this point I was really far gone, and before I did any more stupid shit I asked for our order to go and we got out of there.
And my friend just kept on talking, apparently oblivious to my terrible experience, all the way out the door.
I'm not even sure they were following the flow of what they were saying.
But the HIGH, oh man, so so good.
OF COURSE fuckin loudmouth smartass little shits {who shouldn't have been allowed in there in the first place} had to ruin the party by acting like big shots and spilling the beans about that place where we got the mushrooms, and the cops raided them and shut them down.
No more pot bar, no more occasional mushrooms.

Re: Drinking Stories
Tails, I respect your decision to not take them.
For myself I consider it to be Ok.
I consider alcohol to be a far greater health risk, and have seen too many people die from it to be convinced otherwise: relatives, friend's relatives, neighbors, and sometimes coworkers I have known are dead because of alcohol.
No one has died from pot to date and I consider it to be good medicine for just about anything.
There's a lot of propaganda surrounding drugs that contain disinformation and it just serves to confuse the truth about them and frighten people about things that aren't really that bad.
Right from the start I want to emphasize that cocaine or crack, ice, crystal meth, speed, heroin, opium, and high - concentration prescription medications are extremely dangerous in my opinion and should be avoided.
There is a new drug they're calling salvia which turns you into a drooling idiot for a few minutes - I mean rolling around on the floor with slurred speech and talking like a drunk that's absolutely stinko {there's videos on You tube showing its effects} = I don't trust it, either.
Stories get repeated about when people take mushrooms or LSD and begin to think they can fly, then go jump off a rooftop and get hurt or killed.
Those stories seem to form a common perception in the collective memory of the general population that, if you ever try these things, the same thing will happen to you.
That's just not true because the effects of drugs often depend largely on the mindset of the person when they take a given drug.
Two good examples of this are the 'bad trip' or the 'angry drunk', which are basically the same thing except the drunk is likely to start a fight with you, whereas the bad trip may turn to you for help in calming them down.
Frankly, I think mushrooms and LSD are too intense for most people and they shouldn't take them.
But the thing about LSD is that it seems to bring out and magnify whatever prevailing character traits you naturally possess.
So if you're a smartass showoff who takes LSD in the presence of people to show off to, {I'm thinking of a teen boy with raging hormones in the presence of a group of girls} then you will be far more likely to start thinking you can fly and jump off the rooftop or whatever.
In contrast, if you're a mild - mannered person by nature and take LSD then you're likely to have a very peaceful transcendental experience, and may feel like a walk to the park taking in the fresh air or some other 'close to nature' type scenario.
Mushrooms tend to be a mild and peaceful experience in any event.
The reason why I myself like to use pot and occasionally mushrooms is because I have the type of brain that likes that type of psychoactive substances, {as opposed to people who don't} and I get transported to another plane - it's peaceful beyond description.
And I certainly can't partake of them when I'm dead.
when it comes to LSD ...
Yes, DB I've tried different kinds and they were very mellow, time - stretching, out - of body experience inducing affairs.
Sometimes I was mesmerized by the beautiful colors reflected off a CD for what seemed like days but was in fact just a minute or two.
During that time I floated up out of my body, it was really cool.
Concerning LSD in general:
There are different types and variations on the theme, each with its own characteristic effects.
Probably one of the most famous ones is Jacob's Ladder, which had a horror movie made about it where a man who had been given a large dose of the JL LSD had recurring hallucinations of being in hell or being dead and suffered an endless string of these horrifying apparitions.
The truly scary part of it is that the movie was supposedly based on actual clinical trials of this stuff carried out by the military, and the trips those people suffered.
LSD of other types can have euphoric effects, such as a formula dubbed Elvis, which makes you feel very peaceful and at one with the Universe.
There was another one called White Surgical that had similar peaceful effects, but gave you an incredible burst of energy as well that lasts the entire high.
If taking drugs was so bad for you I should have died years ago {been smoking pot for ages now}, but other than that, I don't smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol {quit both about 15 years ago}
and I eat well and exercise.

Beer, cigarettes and cocacola are all much worse for your body than mushrooms. I assume you partake in at least one of those. So the question back to you, god damn Tails, why drink coke if it harms your body that badly?

Re: Drinking Stories
This happened about a week and a half ago.
-me and wife go to local tavern
-after last call, we go with some kids ages 16-22 to smoke a joint
-kids pop trunk of car in secluded area
-trunk filled with weed, mushrooms, mdma
-filled, like 10 bricks like this:

-I took a glance and dint even want to look again
-Rolling joint in front seat of car with one kid, hands me a quarter of shrooms free, I roll down the window and ask the wife if she's up for a trip, we decline
-tell them we are going home now, kid says 1 second come here
- we get in car and he says put your hand out, I do and he dumps a pile of this into my hand, except it was pink:

-I take one look at it and say "No, I'm not eating that" (It just looked too toxic) wife mistakes my comment to mean I'd rather an alternate way of ingesting it.
-she starts pigging out, so I join in.
-We trip out the rest of the night.

I just read a story where one guy ripped his buddys eyes out, cut out his heart and threw it on the fire, after consuming mushroom tea. But yeah I've done them probably 50 times and some bad trips were all I had go wrong.

This sounds like one of the perpetuated stories that get lodged in the collective memory of the general population I mentioned earlier.
A Keiser Soze story, if you take my meaning, intended to scare the shit out of people who don't know a thing about drugs in the first place.
If it is a true story, then I bet my teeth that the guy who did the killing was psychotic long before he laid hands on the mushrooms; all they did was remove his inhibition to kill.

You're saying it like it's a bad thing, or that the effect was somehow permanent.
When I took the mushroom tea that night I had made certain that I was obligation - free for the next whole day since I planned to be in an altered state. {and this is what people generally do when taking them.}
So it wasn't like I would have died from lack of food because my mouth stopped working properly for a while.
Also I need to clarify that this whole 'trip' is in your head, and is completely different from someone who is really drunk, by comparison; when you're drunk you lose motor control because your brain is shutting down {essentially turning you into a caveman}, and when you're high on mushrooms your brain activity is altered, but very active.
So it's not as if I was falling off my chair or anything because it's not like that at all.
Maybe I should have said so, but when the nacho chip was making barrel rolls in my mouth, I was laughing inside at myself - I thought the whole thing was hilarious.
Sorry I didn't say so before, and now reading how I described it I can see how it looks like I was in danger of choking or something like that, which wasn't the case.
I could have simply spit the chip neatly into my napkin at any time, but the situation was so unusual that I decided to try to play it through.
There wasn't any reason not to, really, because as I said the person I was with was holding a one - sided conversation anyhow and didn't seem to need my input {seemingly for the entire night, they just kept on talking}

Re: Drinking Stories
Mushrooms are awesome if taken in the right environment. They can expand your mind in ways that you can't understand until you try them. JG is 100% correct about mental state. Shrooms will essentially enhance whatever mood you are in by a factor of about 1 million. (Give or take) I have only had one bad mushroom trip in my whole life, and it was because I was in a bad state of mind when I took them. And honestly, even that trip wasn't that bad, it was just intense and freaked out everyone I was with!
Basically, I ate an eighth of incredible gold caps, smoked a ton of chronic weed and tripped balls for about 3 hours on the stairwell of my buddy's house. I literally went so deep into my own mind that I was pulling out deep, specific childhood memories that lived somewhere hidden in my brain. Withouth the mushrooms, I think they would've been there forever. Triggering those memories however was incredibly freeing. Some of them were wonderful and I was crying laughing, the next memories were sad and I was weeping crying. At the end of it all, I felt exhausted but completely at peace.
My point of all this is to say that I fully understand what JG said about "playing through" the situation. When you are tripping, it's easy to get caught up in one thing and not let it go.
@ Steven -What the hell is that crystal looking stuff? I'm not familiar with it.

Well I think the mush and weed (mush amplifier) are a huge contributing factor to the incident, they guy was probably deranged to begin with, and of course this is definitely not typical of mushrooms this is probably a one in a billion situation.

It doesn't seem to matter in these instances; they'll parade him around as a poster boy for 'what happens when you take drugs' no matter what, like they always do.
Like I keep saying, this is done to scare people and it's just bullshit cherrypicking of information.
Tanc, the squirrel was his first victim, but the article failed to mention it since it was overshadowed by the Human murder.

Most of the time, people on mushrooms are relatively harmless. People who drink too much can get really violent and beat their wives and children, sometimes to death. People on mushrooms tend to be too high to do this.
People who smoke can get violent from nicotine withdraws, but not usually something notable. The caffeine from Coke sometimes can be mistaken by your body to be adrenaline, and can cause you to react boldly towards a situation you'd not normally react to at all.
Alcohol kills your liver.
Cigarettes kill your lungs and can give you cancer.
Caffeine can stop your body from producing adrenaline.
Those all seem a hell of a lot worse than mushrooms.
