True, it's not a huge factor anyways. Kind of like getting a random map you have to work around. Always liked it that way. Never liked the 100% flat simcity map.

I think they limited it because it has such dynamic geography. In sim city games it's usually rolling hills you can terraform in game without much issue, not true at all in Tropico. It makes you have to plan better imo.

well, you can click random map, then choose map size, hills, etc. Limited options. Sim City on Snes is on par with this part frankly haha, but whatever.

Oh yeah sorry I didn't even think of that, the actual map customization is non existent. It's just the options. It's not ideal but I think they made some good maps anyways though.

I have a game going in both right now. I like not being hassled every 2 seconds in sandbox with suggestions and stuff. Map customizabillity is kind of meh, but everything else is decent.

By all means do the campaign if you want I'm just telling you the sandbox is good too. Campaign will definitely put you into different situations that will teach you the details of the game. Like having to be successful with tourism, it's not very easy compared to just mining or using factories.

True, very true. Might give it a shot being that I haven't really started my second map yet. I figured the campaign would kind of teach me stuff, but it hasn't. Tutorial has that covered. If sandbox is pretty customizable, then that sounds good to me.

The sandbox mode is as easy or as hard as you make it. For example try one with immigrants turned off and export prices way low. On a hard map.

I played the campaigns in 3 but I just get bored with them because it's so scripted for the most part.

I got into a rut there that I'm not sure how I got myself out of. I did though, and won the first map. First of 20 apparently. It was interesting, and fun. With sandbox, I don't know, I seem to always do those modes in these type of games, and it causes me to lose interest eventually. Figured I'd give campaign a shot. I did it back in the day with Rollercoaster Tycoon and enjoyed it, because there was no sandbox mode, right? Enjoyed it then, so why not now. Not to mention the DLC I got looks to only add another campaign mode based in Modern times.

Speaking of DLC, there is like 8 other packs I could get. Pirate one sounds cool, but a lot are probably just more campaigns.

I just play sandbox mode usually. In that the easy maps are extremely easy but the hard maps really test you. I played one the other day with no metal in the ground, no oil and almost no good land for farming. Making money isn't so easy, to put it mildly.
