| R-Type is a side scrolling shoot 'em up best known for it's extremely tough and strategic gameplay. You control the R-9 spaceship as it launches a last-ditch effort to repel the evil Bydo empire.
R-Type features huge bosses and intricate, often maze-like levels.
This is arguably the greatest shoot-'em-up to ever grace the Master System. Bar the odd graphic deficiency, it's a totally accurate coin-op conversion. | Gamenguru 204,000 |

| A legendary game that revolutionized the genre and completely changed the way players viewed the humble shoot'em up. R-Type is an incredibly difficult game but, due to the superb graphics, breath-taking level design and never-before-seen gameplay, the game was a huge success, and is still regarded as being the finest of its genre.
R-type's real stroke of genius was in the innovative weapon system the game introduced. The first is the beam weapon : when the player presses and holds the fire button, a beam 'power meter' starts to charge up, once the meter was full, releasing the fire button unleashed a very powerful 'plasma burst', capable of destroying most of R-type's enemy ships. The trade-off was that charging the weapon took up valuable seconds, giving the Bydo ships time to attack.
The second and perhaps most significant innovation was R-type's now-legendary 'Force Pod'. This takes the form of an invincible, detachable laser-firing pod that can be attached to either the front or rear of the player's ship, or can be detached completely and sent forth into the enemy ships. The pod laser was a stroke of true genius and, coupled with the superb level design, gave the world its first 'strategic' shoot'em up. Rating: Not rated yet Times Played: 380 | Seahawk 260,500 |

| A radio controlled car race has begun - right in your own house! With this game you can enjoy the excitement of a real radio controlled car race. Enjoy the thrill of challenging a number of different race circuits, where four radio controlled cars go head on against each other. There's also a drag car race waiting for you.
Race car action that will fail to excite. This was poor even in its days. Rating: Not rated yet Times Played: 272 | kiwinavega 814 |

| R.C. Pro-Am II is the follow-up to, of course, RC Pro Am 1, which had much more success, mostly because in 1988 the NES was at it's peak. By 1992 the majority of people moved on to the SNES or Genesis, which is a shame because this game is one of the best racing games on the NES.
The game brings back what made RC Pro-Am fun: killing other cars with missiles and bombs! But this time instead of just upgrading your cars by gathering letters to spell 'NINTENDO', you build up cash winnings every time you race, depending on what you place and by gathering money from the track. Then you can upgrade your motor, tires and buy lots of fun gadgets like oil slicks, buckshot and of course missles, bombs and even lasers.
The tracks are much more elaborate in RC Pro-Am 2, with ramps, rivers, ice, jumps and bumps. There are 3 settings that the tracks are in: the traditional road and grass, one that looks like it's supposed to be in a city, and one that's dirt and desert.
Unlike RC Pro-Am the yellow car does NOT cheat and get super speed, but in the higher levels the cars do seem to have an unfair advantage. Winning in this game is all about using your money wisely and upgrading at just the right pace. If you don't upgrade fast enough the other cars will take over and it will be almost impossible to keep winning and building up more money. Rating: Not rated yet Times Played: 645 | CaptonRon 352 |

| A heavily flawed port of the Atari arcade game (which in itself was only average), Race Drivin' for the Super NES has blocky graphics, lousy controls (especially during turns), muddled sound effects (squealing tires sound decent, but that's about it), sparse music, and boring gameplay. | - scores disabled - |

| Rad Racer is an arcade style 3-D racing game. The object of the game is to race to the goal within the given time limit. Along each course are several checkpoints which will increase the amount of time you have to reach the final destination. There are eight different stages with increasingly difficult roads, changing weather conditions, and a variety of opponents who tend to get in the way. Included with the game is an optional pair of red-blue 3-D glasses which can be used to give the game an even more 3-D appearance. Rating: Not rated yet Times Played: 612 | Gamenguru 49,342 |

| Rad Racer II is an arcade style racing game which is the sequel to Rad Racer and features similar gameplay. Played with a 3D perspective from behind your vehicle, the goal is to race through a series of different tracks before time runs out. Along each track are several checkpoints; crossing a checkpoint will increase the amount of time you have to reach the final destination. Eight new tracks are featured (with new graphics and music), each with a variety of hills, turns, obstacles, and other cars to get in your way. Crashing into other cars or any obstacles on the side of the road cause you to slow down or come to a stop and lose valuable time. Also new is a turbo boost which allows you to reach speeds of 255 mph. Unlike the original game, you now only have a choice of one car and the red-blue 3D glasses aren't supported. | This was the first game that Shigeru Miyamoto worked on, and it did not sell very well. Of the 3,000 games made, roughly 2,000 were converted into "Donkey Kong". This lead to two variations of Donkey Kong cabinets : the harder to find red cabinet and the traditional blue cabinet. Rating: Not rated yet Times Played: 149 | - no score - |

| Sometime in the future, scientists have discovered a diamond-shaped alien device deep in space. The mysterious alien device detonates while being probed, starting a chain reaction which destroys the entire planet. Fortunately, there's a group of slap-happy space cadets who are up in orbit who aren't affected by the explosion, but witness it, so they decide to do something about it - which means finding a way to travel back in time to avert the catastrophe before it happens!
Radiant Silvergun is a vertically scrolling shoot-em-up rendered with a superb mix of 2 & 3-D graphics, and is widely considered to be the finest ever game of its type in what is a very crowded genre.
Part of the reason for the game's huge success is in the implementation of its weapons system. Unlike other shoot-em-ups, all of the game's weapons are available to the player from the very beginning. Silvergun's control panel consists of 3 different fire buttons, each of which activates a different weapon; either 'Vulcan', 'Homing' or 'Spread'. In addition, players can activate 4 extra weapons using a combination of the t3 fire buttons.
At the start of a game, the player's weapons are very weak, but they can be 'powered-up' by shooting same-colored enemies (chaining), in a fashion similar to gaining experience for a weapon in a role playing game. Rating: Not rated yet Times Played: 534 | Seahawk 3,461,670 |
