The rules of this are simple, Take any movie or entire movie series, and then make a joke about what happens if you watch it backwards.

The format is "If you watch (movie or series) backwards then it's about....."

For example:

If you watch the Stars Wars trilogy (Ep. 4-6) backwards then it's about a kid who dooms the galaxy by rebuilding two Death Stars.

Or:

If you watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy backwards then it's about a kid who gets an awesome ring from a volcano but then has many many troubles walking home.

You can also make jokes about tiny things in the movie, like so:

If you watch A New Hope backwards, Greedo shoots first :D.

That's the gist of it. Go ahead =).

Though it's been a mere four months since the release of the latest Mario, Super Mario Galaxy 2, its ancestor Super Mario World has been soaking up far more of the limelight-whether it be speculation about the game's inclusion in the upcoming Wii repackaging of Super Mario All-Stars or a string previously unheard of glitches like Yoshi walking on lava. Hell, Yoshi can't even do that in Galaxy, so maybe there's a reason the game continues to prove itself as an enduring classic.

The newest reason to keep paying attention to World comes from Ben Weber, a Ph.D. candidate in computer science at UC Santa Cruz, who tinkered under the game's hood to create Infinite Adaptive Mario. Basically, it's a self-aware Mario that custom fits the difficulty to how well you're playing. It starts off easy enough, and if you have any amount of skill, expect to be beat down. Then, Weber explains, "Infinite Adaptive Mario scales up difficulty by increasing the frequently of gaps, average size of gaps, variation of ground height, and number of enemies." A new level is generated after you either beat the ridiculous challenge set before you, or you die three times. And you will die many more times than that, because you'll most likely want to throw yourself into a bottomless pit than process the sight of a winged, flickering Bullet Bill.

Before you get too cocky, check out this video Weber uploaded of pitting Robin Baumgarten's AI agent designed to beat Mario against Infinite Adaptive. It isn't doing so well, is it?

Have fun. (Download link.)

Im not sure if anyone has seen this topic yet...but WHY does anyone think that this would be a good idea?

Evangelical Christian Group in Florida Plans to Burn Korans | News | English

A small evangelical Christian group in the southeastern U.S. state of Florida on Saturday plans to burn Korans as a protest against violent Islamic extremists. The day marks the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001. The church has a right to burn the holy book under the U.S. constitution's First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of speech. But other religious leaders in Florida fear the event will send the wrong message about religious tolerance.

The firewood is cut at Dove World Outreach Center. And the church's pastor, Reverend Terry Jones, says despite receiving death threats, he and other church members plan to burn 200 Korans on Saturday. "International Burn a Koran Day. This, we only put up because our smaller sign was vandalized many times," he said.

Reverend Jones says he and other members now carry pistols to defend the congregation of some 12 people.

He says the goal of burning Korans is to send a message to al-Qaida, the violent Islamic group that carried out the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington nine years ago.

"That led us to International Burn a Koran Day, to honor those who were murdered at that time [September 11th]. And to put a real clear message out to Islam that we will not tolerate, we do not want them trying to push their agenda on us, in other words Sharia law," he said.

Reverend Jones says Islamic extremism poses a threat to the United States and the world. But he says moderate Muslims should feel free to practice their faith in the country. He says the church's message is not intended for all Muslims.

"We are not hateful toward Muslims. We are not aiming this at Muslims, we are aiming this at Sharia law."

In Afghanistan, some people feel the event is aimed directly at Muslims everywhere. Hundreds rallied in Kabul to denounce Jones and any desecration of the Koran.

And top commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, says the Koran burning may lead Islamic militants to launch new attacks on western troops.

In Florida, Muslim leaders at one mosque are calling for a tempered response.

The Darul Uloom Institute in Pembroke Pines gathered congregants and leaders of other religions to discuss the planned Koran burning. Reverend Renwick Bell is the pastor of a nearby church. He says very few Christians would support burning the Koran.

"When a Christian minister does something like this, I like to ignore it, yet it does cause fervor in the world. I just think he [Jones] is doing something without thinking about it, or trying to get publicity," he said.

Leaders of Hindu, Buddhist and Jewish communities agreed. Imam Shaikh Shafayat Mohamed organized the event to foster understanding across religious lines. He said congregants needed to hear the message of other religious leaders who oppose the Koran burning. "Having them send a message that, this is not American. It is not a Christian thing, it is not a Hindu thing, it is not a Buddhist thing, it is not a Jewish thing. You [Jones] are really misrepresenting world religions and Americans from their point of view," he said.

For many congregants, the idea of desecrating the Koran may inspire strong emotions. But Anthony Abdullah Sanpedro says Muslims and others need to work past those feelings. "It does anger me, but we have to come to a better solution. Just burning the Koran and Muslims getting mad about it is not going to make anything better," he said.

Mosque leaders say events like this one can bring different religions together and ease tensions, which they fear will be provoked by the Koran burning.
Okay, this looks like it will be either really awesome, or really bad. It has been released in Japan, but it has yet to be released in the US. When it is, sometime in 2011, chances are I will watch it. It will be straight to DVD.

Since way back in the 1980's, Piers Anthony has written more than 20 novels about the magical World of Xanth: a place where Everyone has a magical talent, where monsters and demons roam free and where a simple pun can either save your life or get it taken.

If you don't know what I'm talking about then you really should look into Xanth novels - but only if you enjoy fantasy settings and silly yet memorable humor.

To give you an example, in one of the novels there was a female Demon whose magical talent was 'Straition'
'I could try to explain it ...' she said, '... but it's better if you see it for yourself.'

In my opinion these novels are a bountiful source of new movie material that would put C.G.I. to the test; re - creating the World of Xanth would be a challenge for any serious filmmaker.
My hopes are on James Rolfe, personally, because of his enormous potential and also his quirky sense of humor which would do this series of novels justice.

So, what do you guys think?
Is it about time for a series of Xanth films, or am I just dreaming?
Personally I would rather have seen them than Harry Potter or even the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

About a decade ago, it would have been proper to call Blockbuster a "video rental giant." The chain still commands a presence in cities and suburbia alike, but Netflix, extended cable options and digital distribution have humbled it. And the recent news about Blockbuster possibly filing for bankruptcy later this month indicates that the ailing titan might not be long for this world--at least not as a brick-and-mortar presence.

Blockbuster's troubles have provided some potent fodder for retro gaming nostalgia. For us, Blockbuster's video selection was only half the story. The other half was all about video game rentals.

Many of us still rent games today. It's an easy, cost-effective process. But anybody who's ever been young and in love with Nintendo knows that renting NES, Genesis and SNES games was just special. It was an end-of-the-week treat; it was our only chance to get our grubby mittens on new video games in between the ocean-wide stretch of months between the holidays and our birthdays.

We'd bolt from our parents and bullet through the doors of Blockbuster before the car even rolled to a stop in the parking lot. "Wait!" our parents cried as we lost ourselves in the Game Rentals section with the single-minded ecstasy of Scrooge McDuck rolling around in his money vault. "If you don't help choose a video, we're just going to let your sister get whatever she wants."

So the family video that night would end up being some abomination about the My Little Ponies learning how to use their new EZ Bake Ovens. And we'd sit on the couch and twitch, because we knew that as soon as the first writer's name scrolled on-screen, we were going to arrow from our seat, stuff Mega Man 4 into the NES and squeeze every second we could out of our three-day affair with the blue robot boy.

But the unique flavor of the 8- and- 16-bit game rental market wasn't cooked up by Blockbuster alone. There was a fertile time when independent video and game rental stores lay thick across the North American landscape. Finding a new video store within walking distance was as exciting as stumbling on an archeological ruin, because you never really knew what you were in for. Sure, Blockbuster provided, but it was a sterile fixture. There was no thrill in actually finding a Blockbuster location, because it was like discovering the local grocery store or hospital.

It was in the smoke-choked holes where the real treasures lay. If the clerk at Blockbuster gave you a blank stare when you asked about the availability of Dragon Warrior IV, you could be assured that the Russian-speaking proprietor behind the gnawed plastic counter of some independent hole in the wall had a copy up for rent--and it would come with a torn photocopy of the encyclopedia-sized instruction booklet. Pony up five bucks, and the game was yours for a week. Bonus points if your dad busied himself for a while in that mysterious little room separated by a curtain of beads and left you to pore over your findings.

Alas, for every goldmine that independent video stores offered up, there were at least two heart-breakers. The neighborhood I grew up in had one accessible video rental store within walking distance, and its games rental section was a wire rack with a tired selection of titles you'd only touch if they were foisted upon you by a well-meaning but gaming-illiterate aunt. Two games I especially remember being at the store consistently were The Three Stooges for the NES, and Aladdin for the Genesis. Aladdin was a nifty little side-scroller. But after a few continuous rentals, its appeal wore thin. My friend who usually accompanied me to rent games from this particular establishment grew thoroughly tired of Aladdin, and wanted to give The Three Stooges a try.

I had never played The Three Stooges, but some deep-rooted instinct warned me away from it, maybe the same instinct that once told my ancestors not to pet poisonous snakes. My friend wouldn't back down. We nearly broke out in a fistfight that day, right in the middle of that dismal cave.

Despite my love for retro titles, I'm not the kind of person who looks back on the games of her childhood and says, "Yep, those were the days. Not like the garbage we're fed today." I like buying games with my own money. I like the ease of downloadable content, which gives us original, high-quality games like Limbo, Braid, and Shadow Complex for a fraction of the price you'd pony up for a disc at GameStop. But even I have to admit that something inside me has died along with those Sunday trips to rent whatever was new and exciting in the world of the NES and SNES.

So long Blockbuster, with your overbearing but charmingly eager clerks running on Red Bull and testosterone.

So Kong suggested it might be a good Idea for members of teams to have their team logo put into a signature.

I for one think this is an excellent idea, this will help new users be aware that teams do in fact exist, also to let old members keep a good idea of who's active on what team. Plus you will look super cool with your super sweet new team sigs.

Any thoughts? Are any of you team members not willing to sacrifice your uber awsome sig's that you have now? The way I see it it should really be all or nothing, if every one would show their team pride it would be cool, if only half decide they would like too then it wouldn't be so cool.

But it isn’t without it’s flaws, and definitely isn’t without it’s weird moments that make you question what the heck Capcom was thinking when they did certain things. For those strange things, I present to you a list. Note that I’m not going to be lame and be like DURR HURR HARD MAN’S NAME because that’s just dumb. I’m a Mega Man nerd and I look into things a little deeper than making jokes about Robot Master names… Here’s the Top 10 weirdest things about the classic Mega Man series.

Those of us who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s were subjected to marketing blitzes the likes of which previous generations never could have dreamed. As restrictions on corporations lessened, methods of advertising to children which had once been patently illegal suddenly became commonplace. Kids could watch the adventures of their favorite brand-name heroes in the morning, read about them in comic books in the afternoon, then be all fired up in the evening to shriek their throats raw demanding tie-in toys from weakened parents staggering in exhausted from work and willing to give their little hellions whatever they wanted in exchange for a few blissful moments of peace and quiet. Not surprisingly, direct marketing to children turned out to be big money, and everyone wanted a slice of the pie. It seemed like every day a new franchise appeared on the scene determined to be the next massive media empire. And some of them truly were massive. In fact, the likes of G.I. Joe, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Masters of the Universe are still fairly popular, resurfacing every few years when the toy company executives bank on being able to manipulate with nostalgia the adults they once manipulated with greed as children.

In today's Review Redux, I'll be re-reviewing the fifth game I ever reviewed, which is the ever-beloved Pac-Man for the Arcade, released by Namco in 1980. If I were to do these reduxs earlier, I would've done it during Pac-Man's 30th Anniversary (May 1980 - May 2010)

Before we begin, here's a picture I made for Pac-Man on May 22, 2010: (although I already posted on one of RU's thread, I forgot though)
Graphics: B (A+ timeless)

Well nowadays, the game may seems rather simplistic, as it uses simple colors and sprites. Despite it still looks pretty good (and flashy), and still holds up. The game's graphics are very nostalgic and timeless, and even today, it's still considered part of video game pop-culture and still is well known by many people worldwide. Overall, pretty good and fits with the game very well.

Gameplay: A+
This is the reason why Pac-Man is so popular, and why it popularized the whole maze genre. In each level, you play as the big bad Pac-Man himself, where you have to eat all the dots (10 pts) and power pellets (50 pts) in the entire maze. However while trying to eat them, there are 4 ghosts (or "monsters") named Blinky (red), Pinky (pink), Inky (blue), and Clyde (beige, i think) that are trying to stop you from achieving your goal. The cool thing about them is that each of them has a specific personality, which can give players the idea of the many strategies on how to dodge them. Even though you are outnumbered, you have the power pellets on your side that makes the ghosts vulnerable to gobble them up (200, 400, 800, 1600 pts), but you have to use them wisely, as there is only 4 of them in each level. Also, during the level, a(n) fruit/item (100 - 5000 pts) will appear ever under the ghosts' "hideout" (i guess), and they are varied like cherries, strawberries, peaches, bells, bananas, and even the flagship (from Galaxian). Even though it may seem repetitive (what do you expect from Arcade games?), it's highly addictive and fun to play. The game is also notable for the split-screen level (LV 256), which is impossible to complete. Anyway, the gameplay of the gameis so amazing that it spawned many clones like Ladybug, and Lock 'n Chase, for example.
Sound: B (A+ timeless)
Since it was released in 1980, there isn't much sound effects. Only a few sound effects was used, like the ghosts, eating the dots, the power pellets etc. The most notable sound in the game is the death sound, which is also an important part of video game pop-culture, too. In fact, I can still enjoying just hearing them without playing the game. The game doesn't feature any music in the game (mostly because it's 1980, and the ghosts' wailing), but the ghosts' wailing is kinda like the heartbeat sound from Baraduke, as it makes you start getting scared, and your heart beat faster, because you don't want to lose the game, you want to score as big you can. Overall, brilliant especially the famous death sound.
Controls: A+
Well, what can I say about the controls? It's plain simple up, down, left, right. Flawless, and perfect for this kind of genre. Perfect.

Replay Value: A+
The game keeps pulling you back to play the game again, and again. Because you don't just want to play, you want to score big to become the
Pac-Maniac (yeah, it's from Pac-Mania) of the town (or so on). What more can I say about this?

Overall: A+
This is not only the Arcade game of the 1980s, this was the Golden Age of Video Games (along with others). It showed that a simplistic game like this can become big and popular, without having complex graphics, and gameplay. While there are some that prefer Ms.Pac-Man (like Game Informer) over this, but keep in mind, without Pac-Man, they wouldn't be any sequel or spin-off at all, and Namco wouldn't be as successful as they are now.
Any fans of Jimmy Neutron will most likely like this show. It's going to be released October 2nd, 2010. I'm looking forward to this series. Since there hasnt been much good shows being released on Nick, this looks to be a good series.

Another series based off the movie Kung Fu Panda, is also going to become a show I believe.
