I spent about an hour adjusting the analog controls. Add in a good dose of dumb luck.

id jump in to take on begal in mk, but 3 of my 4 gamepad buttons are really sticky (even the 4th one isnt so hot) i spilled beer or juice on it. anyone know a good way to fix this without having to take the controller apart?

If you use your busted pad, I will promise to only play with two fingers.

As for the pad itself, I agree with Dojah. If you use a alcohol (or slightly diluted alcohol) rub them with a soft cloth, it might help.

It's 6:00, so I guess I win. TMT, that was a great game! I really thought you were going to take it until I had a better game on my last play through. I almost didn't make it to my PC in time to do it. It's nice to play against a fellow Neo Geo owner. We're a dying species. I had always heard about this game but had never played it since it was a Neo cart/MVS exclusive (and I have Neo Geo CD).

wb, is it just me are the controls not saving? f5 doesnt seem to work for me either.
is this an easy fix kong? having to imput the controls everytime is really annoying.

Yeah man, good game. I wish I would have had a little more time to devote, I only got to play something like 6 or 7 times. I used to get close to 200K on 1 credit. But I guess that was with a joystick rather than a keyboard.

Anyway, it was a good one. Congrats on your victory. Blue's Journey has always been a favorite of mine, so I am glad you got to try it out.

Not at this time with this game. I will try to fix it later. If I don't get to it by Christmas remind me again.

Thanks for playing Steven. I always thought Arkanoid was for dorks, but I guess it was MK. You still set a very respectable score, though, so I guess that makes you a dork too.

You really have some versatile skills. You made it tough. Also, in the Coin-Op version Reptile pretty much never appears, so it really comes down to who has the most double flawless victories.

Props go out to you for accepting the challenge any way (I like to think I did the same in Arkanoid), instead of waiting it out until someone else did.

yeah, i went in expecting to lose considering you have all the mk records on the site and i hadnt played since i had it for my snes. i managed to get 3 double flawlesses against the first 3 guys, with liu kang spamming fireballs, and jump kick/flying kick combos. then after the test your might it starts be to become hit or miss weither or not im even gonna win. the furthest i made it was to the mirror match.
how bout a breakdown of your strategy/results?

I hear you. That's how I felt about Arkanoid too. I knew you had the NES version which is essentially the same, but I thought I would try (just to keep things moving along if nothing else). Let us both pat ourselves on the back for giving our best efforts.

Here is the overall breakdown of how things went for me most games. I got double flawless on the first 3 consistently, and sometimes on the fourth. Then I would sometimes get 1 flawless round against the next couple and a double once in a while but not often. Then I got a double most of the time on the mirror match. Then sometimes a single in some of the endurance rounds. I never did get to the bosses which kind of bummed me out.

Strategy wise, there isn't a whole lot to tell other than to say that MK is a game where you really have to learn the AI patterns and know how to consistently counter attack after a missed computer special move. The main problem character for me to fight has always been Kano because his moves are so cheap. The key to beating him really is to duck when he throws his knife then quickly counter with your own move. Then to beat his cannonball, hit HP like crazy and it will knock him back.

Were you able to get any combos off with Liu Kang? He has some pretty good ones.

so you can high punch him directly out of his connonball without blocking it first? and no, i didnt get any combos off with lui kang, besides his 2 hit jump kick/flying kick. i figure id best spend my time just learning the game rather than trying for more advanced combos.

Yes. The best way to beat it is a standing HP. Sometimes you can even get off a nice 8-10 HP volley off if you can get inside after a cannonball. Unfortunately, I can almost never hit Kano with a LP volley, as he also has one of the best ducks in the game and is way below the punches. If it wasn't evident earlier, I really hate Kano all around, and I pretty much wish he had never existed in the MK universe at all. If it is possible to have a very tangible hate for a video game character, it would be for him.

I believe there can be a third juggle hit with a fireball at the end of that jump kick.

Thats funny, it took me like 2 minutes to see what you were talking about. It shouldnt, as we are the defenders. You and Winn should be at 0/1, not 1/1 is what you are saying correct?
