You may choose one of three starter Pokemon from the Kanto region on your quest to obtain all 8 Gym Badges, beating the elite 4, to your final showdown at the Pokemon league with your Rival, Green (Blue for you English peeps ).

This and Pokemon Blue Version sparked Pokemainia in the USA. If you were a kid of the 90's chances are you or your friends have tried Pokemon. The goal is to catch them all inside something called a Pokeball. It also shows how one kid can actually save the world from an evil organization!
